CSX Bulkhead
The CSX Bulkhead Replacement Project is a full replacement of a bulkhead and is located along the Northbank St John’s River in downtown Jacksonville.
This project is unique and presents its challenges due to the limited amount of space available.
There is only 15’ of available space behind the bulkhead with one entrance. Due to these restraints, the entire project will be built from the waterside using barges. Solid layers of rock presented additional challenges that will have to be overcome. Before the Steel sheet pile could be installed, a steel probe will be used to fracture the solid rock layers.
Following the sheet pile, there will be over 70 grouted anchors installed to secure the wall, a concrete cap, decorative sidewalk, mooring bollards, and decorative rail.
